For years I photographed doors. Now, as I find myself painting abstract ones, I see that doors have stories to tell. Stories of possibility and adventure and of journeys one has traveled - distances covered in the outer world and most especially the inner one. There can be gain and loss, but always the possibility of transformation. Doors represent a threshold. They allow passage to another world, even if it is simply into the comfort and protection of one’s own space.
